Beautiful fireplace, we recessed it into the wall and the opening size per the manufacturers directions was a little tight because it didn't account for the screw heads so we had to scrape the framing a little to fit it. not a big deal but something to note.

Using this in a bedroom. Modified wood buring manufactured fireplace to electric in an upstairs master bedroom. I did frame in the opening to use the Dimplex. We converted because we absolutely do not want to deal with a wood burning firelplace in an upstairs bedroom. Code won't allow a gas log fireplace in a bedroom. Electric was the answer. We only did this because the flame and log glow is so realistic. It passed my wife's eye test. Dimplex seems to have mastered the real look. Very happy with this fireplace. Like the idea it is a plug-in insert.

I bought this unit to replace a 25 year old model that finally quit running. This new design, along with the remote control and flame options, was more than a match for the older unit. With a few minor modifications to the fireplace surround, it fit perfectly. This is a great unit at a very competitive price and I'm sure it will provide years of satisfaction. Great fireplace!
After several years of trying to figure out where I could add an electric fireplace in my condo living room, it finally registered that by reworking the inside of my TV cabinet, there would be room for both. I lost some drawers for DVDs and tapes, but by offsetting the fireplace, was able to add a door with shelves behind it for those items. I also bought a crackle box, to have the sound of a real fireplace. I'm now set for winter with plenty of ambiance.
Very nice unit, good controls, looks good in our new 4 seasons room. Room is all windows on three sides with an outside door at each end. So far the heater does fine when it is 25 degrees outside and we leave the den door open for house heat. Will probably need a second heater when it gets down to single digits.
This was one of the only "modern" looking electric fireplace inserts that we could find (which also fit our fireplace opening). I was skeptical of how good the flames would look, and I was proved wrong. These look very realistic and have a nice randomized effect. We fooled several visitors that thought it was a real gas insert. The heat it puts off is actually pretty decent too, and completes the "cozy" feeling.
To compensate for the extra height, we added a nice piece of black walnut beneath and it looks like it was made to go with it. Also, love the reflective rocks that come with this. They look great when lit, and help refract the light. Much better alternative to fake logs when its not lit.
The insert box is a little tricky to position perfectly, but I just created a support out of stacked 2x4's to support the box from tipping backwards.
All in all, I'm beyond satisfied with the quality of the unit and how the flames look. Such a cheaper and easier alternative to gas.
The unit has 2 mounting screws on each side, total 4. We added tile backer and ceramic tie on the 2x4 frame and the screws are located such that they did not hit the wood framing. Because of the shallow depth of the fire box, these screws are hard to install, you cannot use a battery powered drill. And it is difficult to install the screws with a screw driver due to limited space. Other than the mounting screws, this is a great unit. Fan is quiet but have not run it much as it's summer. I installed this in an old wood-burning fireplace and re-tiled 12' W x 4' H old brick fireplace face (hearth yet to be tiled), tile from floor to mantle. Tile is stone-look and the insert looks beautiful. We love the flame color options. I wired in a 110v outlet in the old firebox and used the supplied cord for power, did not hard wire the unit.
Installed the unit in an existing mantle. Looks great. Very realistic flame. Heats up the room nicely. Only drawback would be the faint 'knocking' sound that doesn't seem to stop.
This was easy to install and looks amazing in our Extra large family room. Focal point of the room with an 86" TV above it. Mounted on a tiled stone wall. Very beautiful. However, it is annoyingly noisy. Not the heating element. It makes a continuous very low chime/pop noise about every 30 seconds. I can hear it from the next room with the TV on. This is the only thing we don't like about it. Maybe defective? I don't know......It looks great though.
Our family purchased these fireboxes with the intent of placing them inside our non-functioning fireplaces to a) provide supplemental heat, b) create an ambiance that was desperately lacking in our family space, and c) to a certain extent 'childproof' our fireplaces by filling them up. It has succeeded in all of those! Plus, easy to setup, relatively quiet (can have a soft conversation with it on), great lighting with the flames and logs, and easy to use remote. Would recommend.
