Prefab homes have become more and more popular in recent years thanks to their many advantages over other types of homes. They have a shorter period of construction, more affordable building costs, and come with more eco-friendly features. As people are realizing how these homes prove their worth, home builders and owners are turning to them at an increasing rate.

So how do you decorate or upgrade the interior design of a prefab home? In this article, we have compiled some of the best tips for decorating and designing the interiors of a prefab home. Continue reading below to find out more about these fun and practical home ideas your prefab home will surely thank you for. Sit back, relax and don’t forget to take mental notes because you are in for a treat!

1. Be Minimalistic in Your Decorating Approach

You can keep the look more sophisticated and classy by keeping the amount of furniture and decorations to the bare necessities. A minimalistic approach on your prefab home is not only space-effective but also increases the visual stimulation on the eyes. Since the majority of ideal prefab homes that are being built today are relatively smaller in size when compared to traditional stick-built homes, a minimalist interior suits them best. Not to mention the benefit of having to fix less clutter and clean less things!

However, this is not to say that you can’t use large and wonderfully crafted decorations in a prefab home. They can actually serve as centerpieces to help you express your personality more through the visual appeal of your home. Invest in remarkable centerpieces that can leave lasting impressions on everyone while still keeping in mind that an over-decorated small space is not a sight to behold.

2. Take Advantage of The Green Architecture and Fill Your Home with Refreshing Indoor Plants

It is a well known fact that not only are prefab homes economical, but they are also eco-friendly. The green architecture being used in prefab homes is one of their most essential and strongest selling points. Take this to the next level by planting more and decorating your way to a fresher and healthier home.

The problem with traditional stick-built homes is that oftentimes, the lack of natural lighting and heat can be a death sentence for many indoor plants. This problem is essentially non-existent in the case of prefab homes where there is an abundant source of natural light and heat thanks to its innovative green technology.

Snake plant (Sansevieria trifasciata), Pot mum (chrysanthemum morifolium), Golden pothos (epipremnum aureum), and Red-edged dracaena (dracaena marginata) are few of the best indoor plants that do not only give your prefab home a more refreshing vibe but also clean the air effectively and efficiently.

3. Make Your Home Appear Larger Than It Actually Is By Choosing The Right Decorative Elements

Large wall mirrors can alter your home’s overall atmosphere and make it look a lot more spacious by creating the illusion that the room is larger than it is. Be sure to angle them correctly and wisely in order to effectively create this amazing illusion. You may also add in small decorative mirrors for an added playful look.

You can also create the illusion of a larger space by choosing wall colors that are light, neutral and easy on the eyes. The most common wallpapers are white, nude, eggshell and faded yellow. Avoid dark colors when possible as it can make cramped spaces feel even smaller and suffocating.
