How Goes Your Dine Rooming?

Hunting for dining room furniture can be fun and adventurous. At the same time, it can also turn into a stressful endeavor. So how can you create that perfect dining room without getting ensnared by indecisiveness that includes battling through anxiety?

Furniture hunting is like a battle and you must be prepared for stress on many fronts. So leave, for your hunt, fully prepared. Otherwise you’ll face a lot of stress and anxiety choosing between the phenomenal collections of dining furniture sets.

We believe that your hunt would go very smoothly if you are well prepared on the following fronts:

Mind the Purpose

Be absolutely clear. For what purpose do you need to make this purchase? Do you intend to use the furniture for everyday use? Then perhaps you will be looking for sturdily designed furniture.

If you are in need of entertaining guests only, then perhaps an elegant showpiece is in order. What if you are want a dining room intended to serve for dual purposes such as serving as the hub of the home? Then perhaps you’ll do well with a table capable of withstanding the strong to gentle nicks from everyday use while remains easy to clean.

For fancier tastes, you may opt for a stylistic dining room set and save it from the ‘gentle memories’ of daily use by using a table cloth.

Size It

It’s really hard to keep focus of our dimensions when we’re in a furniture store. We tend to forget that we are there to buy dining furniture and not a new dining room. Remember that it’s the furniture that must respect the architectural design and décor of the room of which it will soon become a part of.

Keep in mind the room’s dimensions and the number of people you want to sit at the table. A good practice is to use spare brown paper and cardboard to design a real life replica (aerial view only!) of the furniture. Spread it across the floor to have a clearer perspective of the space it will occupy. The number of people and shape constraints will greatly narrow your search.

Yet don’t let your space limit you. Once in the store, online or otherwise, freely consult the personals for furniture types that allow more ‘room’ in less space. At Sohomod they’d be happy to lend advice and enjoy discussing possibilities and ideas!

Lights, Furniture, Action!

Lighting has the capacity to completely alter the tone and mood of the dining room. So before you move out to sound calls of your arrival at the store, win the lightening battle at home. Before investing in more furniture for the room, focus on your choice of lighting.

Natural lighting is the best solution because it grants the furniture to ‘glow’ on its own. Furthermore, furniture stores, such as Sohomod, display pictures of furniture taken under natural lighting.

This does not mean that artificial lighting is not viable. On the contrary! We believe that artificial lighting can make the room and furniture feel more homely and private. If you already have artificial sources of light (e.g. lamps, chandeliers, etc.) then keep their presence in mind as well. Afterall, you wouldn’t want them to become either the dominant features or the completely recessed features of the room.
