The Fusante No.1 hand grenade was first introduced in May 1915, using an updated faceted exterior for easier handling and effectiveness. Matthew Shively’s modern interpretation of this historic armament, the Fusante Blanc, re-creates the form as pendant lighting, employing white porcelain and brass rivet ornamentation.
The Fusante Blanc pendants have recently been installed at La Table restaurant in Houston, Texas. Melissa Stevens, of the StevensGroup, referred to Matthew as a “rising star” in a recent blog post about the restaurant, and that his “imperfectly beautiful lighting casts a glow that is simply enticing.”
