Fin Cloud light series by Studio Avni are a sculptural take on Biomorphism andtactile exploration of fin like modules, drawing from Japanese crafts of Origami, using materials such asBrass, Copper, Stainless Steel and PVC. Bilateral symmetry is special to us since it’s the most recognized balanced form found in nature.
The design is further developedby replicating and arraying fin modules around the central spine of the structure to create an organic bilateral composition.
The ethereal light sculptures generated are reminiscent of scaly marinecreatures such as sea anemone and jellyfishes displaying forms that have a physical and mathematical basis with bioluminescence characteristics. The evolved light structures are biological analogues of these creatures, mimicking their bilateral geometries, not only by reflection but also by rotation of repeated elements. The structure so formed allows the possibility of growing in to a larger installation piece by increasing the modules.
The entire collection is painstakingly hand made and hence somewhat an irregular shape. Metal sheets are first cut and then linked together or stitched together piece by piece meticulously to form a mosaic of repetitive Finstructure. Fin Cloud lights are available in Brass, Copper, Bronze, German Silver and PVC.
