Benjamin Spöth takes leftover, high-quality birch plywood and crafts lamps from the scraps that were going to be thrown away.
The family of hanging pendants, called Upcycle, are made from millimeter thin slices that Spöth cuts down from two and a half meter long pieces.
The slices are then assembled in various ways or steamed in order to bend them into shape. Depending on how they’re positioned, light filters through the openings, as well as some of the layers of the plywood.
