Young designers and fabricators Reid Hoyt and Max Simon announced the launch of Jerry, a new experimental lighting company, and their debut product FLOAT.
FLOAT is a high-end lighting system that uses LED technology in a new way. Born out of a focus on optics, FLOAT treats light as an essential building block of design. LED light is projected through patented spherical lenses onto curved White Optic™ reflectors which diffuse and direct the beam. Each unit is independently adjustable and the whole system is modular, allowing for easily customizable configurations. FLOAT is versatile and efficient, suiting a range of commercial and residential environments.
Jerry is a cross-generational collaboration between Reid, Max, and Max’s father Jerome Simon, a veteran lighting inventor. As graduates of RISD, they were inspired by Jerome’s endless experimentation with light and proposed creating a high-end lighting company as way to bring his technology to the residential and commercial market.
Jerome has spent over 35 years developing innovative lighting technology. His work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
Max and Reid took one of these patented LED technologies and made it FLOAT.
