Bias is the creative brainchild of David Geckeler and Frank Michels.
The Berlin-based designers have always been driven by their love of studying materials and technological research. Bias for Crassevig is inspired by graphic art, in which pure geometric shapes such as circles and cylinders are transformed by simple cuts, inclinations and intersections.
This sculpturesque coffee table was formed by pairing an inclined cylinder with a horizontal top. The compact base unexpectedly becomes the flat, ethereal and light element. The perfectly balanced table embodies the concepts of dynamism and stability at the same time.
The base of Bias is made of curved oak plywood and the open-pore finish highlights the grain of the material, giving it a truly refined look. One especially exquisite feature is the lack of visible joints between the panels thanks to the use of a special matching technique.
The small gap between the horizontal wooden top and the base serves as a handle for moving the item around.
Bias is 45 cm tall. This height was specifically chosen so that the top is ideally positioned for use with chairs, armchairs and sofas. It is possible to choose between a 35 cm or a 50 cm diameter for the base.
