Presented during IDA2015 fair in Rio de Janeiro, Silhouette is a family of pendant lamps designed by Giorgio Bonaguro reversing the traditional construction of the lampshades.
Giorgio Bonaguro’s last family of pendant lamps is inspired by the traditional construction of the lampshades for the scattering of light: a structure in metallic wire where is wound a tissue.
But in this case the idea is to flip the concept: what was hidden and was serving only as support, the metal structure, it’s now highlighted, and it’s given a greater value and elegance by producing it with borosilicate glass rods welded together, while eliminating the fabric. This creates many small silhouettes, almost a kind of “glass sketches”, enhanced by the reflections generated by the light source.
