Unfinished Vases by Kazuya Koike for Doogdesign

Kazuya Koike of Japanese design studio Doogdesign, has created ‘Unfinished Vase’, a collection of modern vases that were created using 3D printing technology.

When printing the vases, the designer starts with stacking the material up, bit by bit from the bottom. Once the bottom is completed, he inserts the glass dish by hand, so that the 3d printing can continue, encasing the glass dish within it.

The name ‘Unfinished Vase’ comes from the fact that an opening is left in the design of the vase.

It’s this opening in the vase that allows the glass dish, which is only slightly visible, to be easily filled with water when required.
