The Beat-Shelf by Van Tjalle en Jasper

The Beat-Shelf by Dutch design duo Van Tjalle en Jasper started by asking ourselves what is considered to be a sign of life. What says “I live”? The most archaic sign we could think of is that of the heartbeat. An idea was born.

The Beat-Shelf is a piece of furniture in which form and function found and drew on each other. No bookmarks or supports needed. Don’t be surprised if the shelf attracts more attention than the things you put on it.

The Beat-Shelf is made from solid or plywood. It is made with a saw table and some ingenius selfmade utensils. After that we glue the pieces together and finish it of with furniture oil. The Beat Shelf has a support system which hangs it on the wall using two screws and is completely out of sight, giving it a nice clean finish.
