Kai Stania designed for Durlet LONG ISLAND. LONG ISLAND’s character is defined in a subtle manner. It is a classic cubic sofa design that claims its identity through its detailed finishing.
From the beginning, LONG ISLAND was conceived as a modular construction. A variety of modules allowing endless combinations: seating elements in three widths (65, 75 and 90cm), long chair modules, corner elements, wide or narrow armrests, shelves that serve as armrests, fixed or sperate ottoman modules.
All those elements can be arranged into combinations to be produced into pre-composed, multiple seating elements. Comfort has always been the focal point in the development of this sofa. Besides the spring construction with high end seating comfort, there is also a built-in mechanism allowing the seats to be extended by up to 25 cm. This provides the option for two people separately to sit upright having a conversation, or lie down to relax.
You can opt to have this sliding mechanism in a manually operated version – with only the closed position as fixed position – or a motorized version; in which case, you can lock every intermediary position. Two types of optional back cushions complete the comfort possibilities: either a loose duvet cushion with a supporting roll fixed at the back, or a narrow and high back cushion in which a slide adjustable headrest is integrated!
