It is also the symbol for the food of our mind, this because they contain the very first food of a person. In our history, the breast rarely has a sexual context. Smelik took the challenge to make an design, without a “cheesy” image would to evoke. The breast is subtly integrated in this lamp, and is really only noticed when one looks closer at the lamp.
The breast of the Anonymous desk light is casted in gypsum to get an negative mould. This mould is used to cast the breast in ceramics. The ceramic breast is used for the foot and the head of the lamp. The base is weighted with lead. The frame is made of wood.
To make the desk lamp more personal, people can choose for an cast of there own breast. The only thing is that you should visit the studio yourself, which is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
