Alga V2 (Beta) pendant light was inspired by the molecular structure and bioluminescent characteristics of the algae, Noctilucae Scintillans. As such when looking to photograph this pendant light photograper Zaldy Infante and designer Sebastian Damm were inspired to represent this natural inspiration in their collaborative experiment.
When photographing this pendant, the pair asked themselves “Why do all product photo-shoots have to be to look the same? Why do all products need to be photographed in-situ or in a studio?” Zaldy and Sebastian set to break this traditional perception.
Alga V2 was parametrically designed and produced using a unique laser cutting and vacuum forming technique. The exterior shell is made from recycled HIPS plastic and the interior is glass blown.
